Bio
Born Emmanuel Joseph Christopher Oxley, son of Willie J. Sr., and Marva L.
Oxley, he was the last of seven children, who had dreams of making it big
in the music industry.
Born in Oakland, CA on December 17,1978 and raised in the rough streets of
North Richmond, CA. At the age of ten, he and his family moved to Rodeo,
CA, which is commonly called today by many of the locals, SmallzVille. It
was then where his passion for music and others associated with him began.
Following in the footsteps of his older brother, Samuel Oxley, currently
incarcerated, that he swore to continue pursuing music and to strive to
become better towards his goals of becoming a successful music producer,
and more.
It was in junior high where he picked up his nickname, Cheez. His friends
and other classmates joked around because he smiled too much and too often.
A graduate of John Swett High School, he set out to begin he’s career in
music. It wasn’t as easy as he had hoped. He started off with a small
Yamaha drum machine that his older brother, Willie Oxley Jr. had purchased
in Germany while in the army, and then left behind by Sam when he was
sentenced. From there he was inspired by producers like Dr. Dre, and many
others, and so he tried to copy their sounds with just a simple beat
machine and made it exact, just by ear alone, he was only 16 or 17 at the
time. Then he eventually graduated to a Roland that his friend Oscar had
gotten, and so he started making beats and recording in his garage for
about a year or so. Then his long time friend from high school, Albert
(Karraz) Redman got word of his beats and realized his potential. So he
went out and purchased a newer Yamaha, and tried to perfect his craft,
which began many years of music. Influenced by new and exciting producers
such as the Neptunes, and Timberland, he was determined to find his own
sound. From a 4-track to an 8-track, his drive and his craft grew over
time. Then from recording music in garages and 1 bedroom apartments, the
time presented itself to record in a professional studio. He did hits such
as, Cali Nights, and The First Testamen(pronounced, The first test of men),
Priest’s album. It was then that he felt that his dream was coming a
little closer.
After all the ups and downs, disappointments, fights, and arguments over
music, because the singles and albums didn’t go anywhere do to no
marketing or promotions. Doubt began to settle in. So he took a break,
even thought about giving up on music. He went to school to take up a
trade in accounting, but that didn’t last to long, because music was in
his blood, and it kept calling. So he continued making beats here and
there in between school, till eventually he came across his cousin Malik
who said that he has a studio in Oakland. And so another opportunity
presented itself.
And from there he made songs such as, Octapussy, Pimping, Carry On, and
Escada. Those are some of the recent tracks he has produced with the
recording artist, Ponce Deli Lion. He has also worked with artist such as,
Lee Majors, Dru Down, B-Legit, Priest, LV, Young Win, HardHittaz Ent., and
Super Dudes Ent. With hopes of forming a production team, which houses
various producers such as, himself, D, Jay Davis and more. Writing songs
and producing hits…….And that is where his story really begins.
