This is not the jacket of the next street novel, this is the real life story of Rhode Island’s own Slik. Born Devin D, which is English for "Poet" was the name given to him by his Mother, but approved by his father, when the first child of two was born, everybody knew he was destine for greatness.

Slik grew up fast, learning from his older family and friends on everything from life to music. When Slik was young his music ability became ever present and the young star was always singing or rapping something he may have heard on the radio, knowing the words almost by heart after only hearing it a few times. By age thirteen, Slik started rapping with Steve, also known as S.Cass, which was one of his long time friends from school, but at that time you could have practically called them brothers. The two had a small tape recorder and downloaded beats from the internet which was all they had access to at the time. Those two spit freestyle after freestyle and never wrote down a lyric until two years later, which personally I think helped Slik develop his style and lyric writing ability.
By the age of 16, family started noticing that Slik had skill, and knew that if he put his mind to it that his music ability could take him somewhere. Others started to notice too but soon enough Slik lost focus. No one could really understand why he did, but he did. He lost focus in everything from school to work, I guess he was at a point in his life where he wanted to do nothing but hang out with his friends. After finally realizing that he needed to get back on track, he began to focus on his future.

Now that Slik is at the age of 19 he is ready to give the game all he’s got, he’s ready to make a name for himself, and most of all he’s ready to make that money. With a son on the way he knows that nothing will bring him more joy than to hear the first cries of his child, but he also knows that nothing will bring him more joy than be able to support that child and give him all the things that he never had in life. Slik is currently working as a dispatcher for AAA, but does have plans to go to college next year for Audio Engineering. Whether this music thing works out or not, he says " as long as i have my family and friends, everything will be fine". He knows that it only goes up from here, and he knows that nothing will stop him now.
